ball gown in the woods :: Cate :: Salt Lake City Glamour Photographer

Halloween is done, it's true. But for my friend and artist Madison, the holiday just boosts her into another year of creating more beautiful things--like THIS:

Three years ago, model Cate looked in the mirror and decided that working 80 plus hours a week at her desk job wasn't going to take her where she wanted to go. So one day she quit her job, leaped into freelance contract work to pay the bills and now spends the rest of her time living her dream as a model and actress.

Model: Cate, Model Mayhem
Location: Farmington Creek Trail
Masquerade Mask: Madison, Madisigns

Another one of Madison's artistic masquerade masks will be featured in an upcoming shoot, so please check back again soon!

madison, survivor. utah glamour photographer.

Madison has been my friend since the second grade. We lived down the street from each other for 15 years. We used to do everything together, playing with barbies for hours and hours during the summer, building a tree house (it was legit!) in her backyard, doing puzzles until the wee hours of the morning during sleepovers, scaring our sisters just for fun...we did it all! Then time got the better of us and we started growing apart. We graduated from high school and got involved in our own things. We stayed in touch here and there and then one day I got word that her kidneys failed. Dialysis became a way of life for her until eventually she needed a transplant; her dad donated one of his kidneys to her. As years passed she kept on living her life until that kidney also began to fail. I don't recall how long it's been since that happened but this year, finally, she got a new one. That's right, she now has four kidneys in her body and only one works. Better one than none!

We did a photo shoot to celebrate. My favorite accessory in this series? The flower. Why? Madison's new boyfriend is a sweetie. When he found out we were doing a photo shoot--that is, about five minutes before we started--he wandered across the street to a neighbor's house and found a yellow flower. Why yellow? Because it matched the shoes she was wearing. How cute is that??

Madison. Survivor. A giggling, fun-loving survivor. I'm glad she gets to be here that much longer.

1940s Model Shoot :: Bethany :: Salt Lake City Engagement Photographer

1940s photo shootBethany is a girl of creative means. Not only did she do her own makeup and hair, she is always adding to her repertoire of clothing from what seems to be her favorite era--the 1940s. Bountiful Main Street provided the perfect backdrop to the mood we wanted to create, a hope for the American Dream. True love, a house, two kids, a dog, and a white picket fence. Most importantly, a world without war.

Bethany is a model with fearless emotion. Her model profile can be found here.

go tell it on the mountain :: Alyse | Salt Lake City Missionary Photographer

salt lake missionary photographerIt's that time of year again! The autumnal equinox is upon us (also known as...Fall). Even though it comes every year I still get excited when the leaves on the trees start changing color, when the days start getting colder and the pumpkins start showing up in grocery stores. (Give a city girl a break! I can't just look outside my window and spot a pumpkin growing in the wild.)

It's also the best time of year to visit Big Cottonwood Canyon! Take a long look at this gorgeous friend of mine! Alyse is headed for a mission in San Bernardino, CA this October. I know she'll make a great missionary--why? How many people do you know would be willing to hike out into the woods by Silver Lake in high heels and a cute dress? Or who would laugh hysterically after sliding down a rock into the dirt?

Alyse, you're my hero. Go get 'em!
