One of my first images:
You found me! My first blog post as a professional photographer. A good photograph is inspired by, well, inspiration. Mine came from my awesome wedding photographers Mark and Mindy Gibson at Highlite Photography--arguably THE best photographers in the state! You may have seen them on a Utah Morning Show or two, or driven past their work displayed on billboards advertising the Miss Utah Pageants. When someone asks me what inspired me to become a professional photographer, you might not be able to finish your sentence before I reply, "It was them!!!"
I got married on October 2007, finalized my photograph order in January, and by my birthday in August I'd read almost every book about photography at the Centerville Library and had my very own DSLR camera. I was addicted! I offered free photo shoots for anyone I knew. I would look through magazines and advertisements for hours until I could identify what I liked or didn't like in each photograph. I frequented my local Barnes 'N' Noble for fashion trends and photography books. I experimented with photo editing software in all my free time. So when December came around and I received a notice that Highlite Photography--Mark and Mindy!--were holding their first photographer workshop ever, I like to think I was the first to sign up.
After some planning, courage and a little bit of elbow grease, I'm here! A professional in progress.
In the dictionary, the word "perceive" means to attain awareness or understanding, to become aware of through the senses. A good photograph should wake up the senses, refresh your memory and make you feel something when you look at it. Art with impact. That's my goal as a portrait photographer. I love creating beautiful things, and I get some of my greatest sense of accomplishment when I can look at a stunning photograph and say "I helped create that".
If you'd like to be part of my portfolio, contact me! I look forward to getting to know you.
